Congratulations America!!!! Congratulations Kossacks and Progs

Congrats America.  You've finally woken the fuck up and at least checked the power of the most corrupt govt this country has seen.  WTFG!  It only took 12 years.  

12 years ago I was still young enough to not have to force myself to go out and cut loose, young enough to not have to worry about chronic back pain, young enough to think that a GOP Congress with a Dem Pres wouldn't be that bad.  It wasn't.  Clinton used and abused an opposition Legislature.  The bad thing about a Dem only govt or GOP only govt---no oversight.  Power corrupts and without the ethical forebearance to look oneself in the mirror and hold that face to the same standard as the face across the aisle; well, we've seen what happens, but will we, as a nation, learn the lesson?

Congrats to us.  We rock.  Those of you who live in political battlegrounds, the ones who knocked on doors, pounded pavement, manned the phones, etc deserve the biggest thanks and the loudest standing O.  For every Meteor Blades (thanks MB et al) who can retool their schedule to campaign etc there is someone like me who loves/hates politics, wants to be involved but can't afford to be too involved, and lives in a politically uncharged area of CO where the biggest political coup is a Mayor getting recalled or a DA getting recalled or a Town Council member getting rebuked for making a dumbass "Do you know who I am" comment.

We all deserve much back patting for sticking by our party and working to put a stop on Bush's assault on the Constitution.  We finally have that check.  While I'm not giving up on the Senate, I see it being a longshot.  However, win or lose, the electoral map looks the same concerning Pres 08 (save OH).  Enjoy the House win and hopefully the Senate win but lets keep the focus we had after 04 and go right back to work for 08.  We made some great inroads in Indiana, Kentucky, but we need to do better in FL, we can do better in NV and AZ.  

I'm not crazy about the idea of a Dem WH, Sen and House but I'm not crazy about the GOP having a potent voice either.  So lets keep the nose to the grindstone and keep on fighting the good fight.  

Congratulations to all and to all a happy fucking HANGOVER! Update: Might need to start getting optimistic about Senate..Webb scratching and clawing and Tester comfortably ahead with a fair amt of precincts reporting. Rally shot time. Every body fill a glass, give a nod to a god, and throw it down for Webb and Tester. McCaskill hanging in there. (personally I can't decide who I hated worse, Dewine, Santorum or Talent. Since the others have already lost I'm saying Talent.) Feel bad for Ford because he really would have been a more intelligent choice for Tennesseans. Goes to show that race is still an issue, and that that goddamn racist commercial was the beginning of the turning of the tide.
