George Bush made a comment a few days ago to the effect that the Democrats are no longer the Democrats of FDR and Harry Truman.

Apparently President AWOL has decided that those who led us through the Great Depression and WW2 are the people he should be compared to: resolute in their decision making, uncompromising in their stance, and unafraid of outside influence.  Broken down George, you are resolute in being an intellectual walnut, you may me steadfast but They were steadfast on principals that were beneficial to the country, they were unafraid of being unpopular because they had both weathered unpopularity and learned from their mistake...you will never learn.  FDR was an isolationist, once we went into WW2 though he didn't half-ass it and he didn't put fuckups in the positions of power...no Condi's full of blame but without meritable action....no chickenshit-hawk Sec. Defs. who are interested only in the initial phase of armed conflict (shock and awe...like some little kid who waits all day for the fourth of July.)

Moreover FDR and Truman cared about the American people.  They  instituted many of the policies that your party is still trying to deconstruct:  Soc. Security, welfare, etc.  Furthermore, they put the country to work.  They helped reinstill confidence in country and that our govt cared more for the people than the wealthy.  FDR was so successful, so popular that your party and Lieberman-types rushed to limit Presidential service.  Lucky for you they did or Clinton would still be President, Osama would be dead, Iraq would not be in civil war, terrorists would have learned to think twice before attacking the US, we'd still have a budget surplus ie paying down not adding to the federal deficit, and just maybe--through Clinton's leadership we would have taken back Congress in 2002 and passed meaningful environmental legislation, meaningful education reform (not a failed NCLB), meaningful medicare reform (not the present you gave to pharmaceutical companies), meaningful health care policies that would ensure the poor were just as entitled to doctor visits, hospital stays, surgical procedures and prescription drugs as are the wealthy.  

No George we are still the party of FDR and Truman you and yours are just too stupid to realize the fact.

On another topic, last night I watched Scarborough and picked up on something else we can't let them have, can't let them get away with.  In a panel including some lib I don't know and Pat Buchanan I heard something like this (transcripts aren't available yet so this is an approximation of what was said but you'll get the gist):

Buchanan:  After all the...blah, blah, blah, I find it funny that democrats are coming after Republicans, blah blah blah.

Lib guy:  Its because you guys market yourselves as the party of morals and ethics so you're held to a higher standard.

Buchanan:  Well thats true the GOP is the value party.

Bullshit, Bullshit, BULLSHIT!

Out of all the shit that has come out over the last several months concerning Delay, Abramoff, Ney, Burns, and Foley I would say that ethics and morals aren't a part of the Republican manifesto.  I would assume that that manifesto says something like: Demonize liberalism at all turns, never accept blame, win at all costs!  

Ethics and morals my ass!  This is the party that thinks its Congress' responsibility to decide whether or not a husband can let his dead wife finally have her deserved rest.  This is the reconstituted Dixiecrat party of Strom Thurmond and more recently Zell Miller and George Allen that preaches morals, ethics and "fair and balanced" living while in the comforts of their homes they hold true to their "heritage" whereby racism is fine. (Byrd is our Dixiecrat holdover but the difference lies in his apologizing for his past and admitting the mistakes he has made.  Strom Thurmond never apologized for nor recanted his racist comments nor his fight to maintain segregation just as Allen refuses to admit that he used the n-word, honors the Stars and Bars for reasons other than hereditary pride, and that he likes sick and twisted wall hangings such as nooses, and that his idea of fun is poaching deer that he might decapitate the beast and place it in the mailbox of someone of opposite skin color.

This is the party that espouses a new kind of separationist ideology concerning homosexuals, an ideology that is no different in its fundamentals than was the prejudism exhibited towards blacks up to and throughout the civil rights movement.  Separate but unequal.  Fair to tax, fair to send to war, but never equals.  This is the party that has members who, during a time of war, think that gay marriage is the single most important issue facing America.(Marilyn "the psycho-Bitch" Musgrave.

This is the party that believes a woman is not intellectually mature enough to decide what she does to her own body.  This is the party that thinks a woman who has been raped has no rights if the rape produces conception.  This is the party that thinks that a fertilized egg is entitled to all the rights an adult is entitled to regardless of consequence to the mother.

This is the party that puts a right, born nearly 1000 yrs ago, in jeapordy of being relevant.  Habeus Corpus is not an inalienable American right---it is an inalienable HUMAN right.  Any man or woman who sits upon a seat of power and thinks that Habeus Corpus should ever be suspended, whether in time of war or not, is a fucking sociopath.

This is the party that thinks strapping a person, a person the Govt deems guilty of terrorist knowledge (not necessarily acts) without trial, to a board and repeatedly simulating drowning is a fine and dandy way to treat prisoners of war whether combatants or not.

This is the party that thinks that it is ok to CREATE intelligence to justify a war that has cost an estimated 100000 Iraqi lives and 20000 US casualties (2700 dead).

This is the party that thinks its ok to take special interest bribes in exchange for votes.  This party thinks its ok to do an endrun around election laws to gerrymander districts and illegally fund elections.

This is the party that wants to either privatize or do away with social security and medicare.  This is the party that would rather continue to oppress the poor and import cheap labor than give the poor a leg up through comprehensive job training and welfare.  This is the party that would rather watch a job go overseas if it benefits the employers bank account.  This is the "fiscally responsible" party who would rather borrow billions from foreign entities rather than actually be fiscally responsible.  This is the party that would rather stack the deck in favor of the rich by cutting their taxes than pay for responsible things like: education, health care, and if we're going to have a Homeland Security dept--hows about funding it so we don't have to worry about dying in a cloud of Ammonium Hydroxide when someone gets the idea to blow up an unprotected chemical storage facility, or securing the ports so we don't have to worry about a nuke getting shipped into the country.

This is the party that lauds Reagan for bankrupting the USSR, a country that controlled its population by allowing little freedom, fenced and patrolled their borders as much to keep their citizens from leaving as from letting others enter.  This is the party that is turning our country into watered down version of a free American Union.  This is the party that would rather get rid of the parts of the constitution they find troublesome (freedom of the press, freedom of religion) and keep the ones that "make sense" (the right to bear arms).

This is the party that thinks the organization that protects the Constitution and all its Amendments, the ACLU, is a "pinko" leftist group out to destroy America; when in reality the ACLU is one of our only protections from administrations like this one who would rather institute the ten commandments as law.

This is not the party of values.  The GOP is the party of exclusion.  It is the party of intrusion.  It is the party of the Cold War politburo where wealth is monopolized as is the power which is wielded by the wealthy.  The GOP is the antagonist party of 1984 and V for Vendetta, the party whose "values" allow for fear to be used as a weapon against those they would rule; the party that wants to legislate what is ok to do in your own home under the guise of "its for your own good"; the party that wants you to hate or fear your neighbor (other nations) that you will toe their line of god and nation first.  This party's "morals" allow for child predators to roll on unchecked--even in the very halls of Congress--even when the predator is the man in charge of protecting children from the very crime he is committing.  This party's "ethics" mandates lies before truth.  Deny, Deny, Deny, then if caught in the lie, change the lie and then Deny, Deny, Deny (Condi has this one down pat, as does Cheney).

Do not for one second, in any conversation, with any person whether friend or foe, allow these motherfuckers their ability to keep calling themselves the party of values or morals or ethics.  They have none.  They don't deserve the mantle.  By action and through inaction these pansy-ass chickenhawks have proven for all time that power corrupts and these fuckheads are absolutely corrupt.  

They've already lost much of their footing as the "defense" party lets make sure they lose their other rally cry.
